Before Inday, there’s already this fictional character Ederlyn, who appeared on several text jokes and invaded the texting community. Some people find her text jokes hard to understand, especially the first one that went like this:

Hahahahahaha. Kulet. :)

At first, you won’t really think its a joke, but rather a wrong-sent text message. But after you receive the second one,

Uy asan ka na? D2 n kaming
lahat ikaw n lng wla.
Nklimutan mo na ba
birthday ko? =c

that’s only when you’ll start to realize that people are making fun of her, based on her first text message. More Ederlyn jokes were invented and passed on creating a short teleserye of some sort (Arman wooing Ederlyn, Chona Mae trying to override Ederlyn’s popularity, Ederlyn dying near Starbucks cafe, etc). Some text jokes also showed how Ederlyn was involved in real world events like Chinese New Year, Lovapalooza, The Buzz, etc.

And the more text messages you receive, the more you’ll know Ederlyn. There’s even a text joke about Ederlyn inviting people to join her friendster account!

And her text messages went on and on. This is the effect of the unlimited texting promo of a certain telecommunications company. But when the telco increased its unlimitxt prices, Ederlyn’s jokes were affected and so her fame faded away.
