Plurk, Twitter can now be updated by SMS
Notice: This service is no longer available as of October 2009
Plurk and Twitter, two of the most used microblogging service in the Philippines, can now be accessed by SMS. The system requires users to register their Twitter and Plurk accounts at phtwitters.com and phplurk.com respectively before they can use the service.
Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to post an update message just as you would in an instant messaging client. These updates (otherwise known as tweets), are text-based posts that can only be 140 characters in length.
To start tweeting via SMS, sign up first at phtwitters.com. Then, register your TWITTER account to their gateway, by sending:
REG <twitter username> <password>
To update your timeline, send
TWIT <your update>
To send a direct message, text
TWITD <username> <your message>
Plurk is similar to Twitter only that your updates (called plurks) and your friends’ are arranged in a timeline so your friends can easily view and comment on them. Plurks can be posted with qualifiers, which are one-word verbs used to represent a thought (ex. “feels”, “thinks”, “loves”, etc.). Its like an instant messenger / social networking / forum / micro-blogging service rolled into one.
To start plurking via SMS, sign up first at phplurk.com. Then, register your PLURK account to their gateway by sending:
PREG <plurk username> <password>
To update your timeline, send either
PLURK <your update>
or
PLURK <qualifier> <your update>
Valid qualifiers:
loves, likes, shares, gives, hates, wants, wishes, has, will, asks, was, feels, thinks, says, is
mahal, ipinamamahagi, nagbibigay, kinasusuklam, gusto, naghahangad, nagtatanong, nararamdaman, iniisip, sinasabi, ay
The gateway numbers to send to:
GLOBE – +63-916-4967171
SMART – +63-929-3632359
Update: SUN CELLULAR – +63-923-8852052

I dont’ trust this kind of application.. ^_^ I think it is a SCAM.. lolzz..

I CAN’T GET IN.
I agree. Isn’t it that someone’s gonna open your plurk/twitter account then update them?!
why can’t i register on phtwitters.com?there’s no sign up form in there. how can first timers register when they’re also experiencing the same thing?can’t use my phone for tweeting…!and it’s very annoying i really tried many times!
i can’t update my plurk. why?
i think someone will open your twitter and plurk..they use prepaid numbers…
Twe2 and others are not working any more..Now I am using http://www.twitteralerts.net to get Twitter posts via SMS, Email or Yahoo Messenger. It really works and is free.
Twitter in some ways is much better than blogging. I love to tweet my everyday activities to my friends and relatives. ***
is it safe? cuz they re giving mobile numbers instead of access numbers. we re talking about password safety here
you can try @tweetitow, http://tweetitow.com for your 2-way SMS/text twitter update here in Philippines. You can both send and receive tweet updates via SMS. The service is free. Of course, your mobile network’s standard text rates apply. So it will come out as free if you are subscribed to those unlimited text promos.
Well. Im planning to go to Ph in december. and like i dont have internet over there. so Im confused of what to do. So are you trying to say that those stuff are for Twitter Like from US or PHTWITTER. i dont get it.
can’t seem to register in phtwitters.com
i think phtwitters no longer works 🙁
is there any way to receive @replies on your mobile in the country? for free, via gateway or via any of the very few carriers?
HI, u can also try @tweetitow for texting your tweets. pls see here http://wp.me/pAl2p-24 on how to get started.tenchu.
for sun, text help to 2555 and it’ll give you the instructions (for free) on how to update to twitter and facebook, but not on plurk. the status messages are worth P1/update
I tried using the globe gateway, but i still didn’t get a direct message in twitter. Why?
i’ve tried using the sun portal but then i can’t see the message in my timeline.what’s going on?
this is safe.. however, lately… Globe posts doesn’t show anymore on plurk? am i missing something.. is there an issue with the globe gateway?
Is it possible for us to post photos to our plurk using this? If not, is there another site which has that service? Please email me. Thank you.
is this safe?
Is this really safe? 🙂
Is this safe?I just want to know cause we’re giving our passwords here. thanks
does it cost anything when i update twitter using the Sun Cell gateway?
@DavaoBase: which SMS gateway are you using? Globe, Smart, or Sun?
I’ve tried using phplurk SMS gateway, but it’s not that consistent. In my 10 tries, only 2-3 updates were successfully fed to my Plurk account. What gives? I have followed the instructions to the last detail, but it’s still not that reliable for me.FYI, I’m also using Plurk’s instant feed application in order to post the same update to my Twitter account.
@stilletopoint: Sun Cellular’s gateway number has been posted.
hi! can you add SUN CELLULAR in the list please? they are the most affordable service provider for Twitter and Facebook updates as of todate. thanks.
