If Yahoo SMS Messenger was initially available to Globe and Smart subscribers, SUN Cellular also developed a similar service called iMessenger, where IM users can login and chat via SMS. Good thing about their service is their availability, not only to Yahoo users but to MSN, AOL and ICQ users as well! Its been here since January 2006.

To start using the service, just type IM and send to 2746.

To login:

LOGIN YAHOO yahooid password

To start chatting:

CHAT YAHOO yahooid message

To logout:

LOGOUT

To use the service with other clients (MSN, AOL, ICQ) , read their quick start. Each LOGIN costs Php 2, and each message you send to a buddy costs Php 0.50.

I know this may come late, because this particular Yahoo service started somewhere between late 2003 and early 2004, but its only now that I’m starting to appreciate it. If you are always on the go and don’t want to miss a single message on your Yahoo Messenger (YM), then you must use Yahoo SMS Messenger. All you need is an SMS-capable phone and you’re good to go!

To login, type

in yahooid password

and send to 62580 (for SMART subscribers, Php 2/text), 2258 (for GLOBE subscribers, Php 2.50/text). If your sign in is successful, you will receive a message from Yahoo! with a list of your online friends with their corresponding number IDs.

To reply, just reply the way you would normally reply to an SMS.

To add a friend:

That’s it! While logged-in, your friends will see you as “Im on SMS”. So even when you’re away from the computer, you can still receive messages both from online friends and texting buddies!
