Good news to all TxtBuff readers! Copying text messages from TxtBuff to mobile phone is now made easier with barcodes! All you need is a Symbian or Windows based mobile phone with camera and Quickmark software:

1. Go to Quickmark website and install the software on your mobile phone.
2. Run the program.
   
3. Go to TxtBuff and look for your favorite text message. Scroll down to the bottom of the page until you find the barcode image.
   
4. Aim for the barcode image until it fits the guide box, and make sure the image is clear.

5. Quickmark software will automatically recognize the image and convert to its equivalent text message. (Note: Most mobile phones can decode automatically without pressing “Enter” key.)
   
6. Choose “Select”, then “Send via text message” or “Save to notes”.
   
   
   

So you’ve read them, those text messages that made you smile, laugh, or cry, messages that have touched you in one way or another. Whether you are a man or a woman, I’m sure you will relate to one of our text messages. Choose your favorites by rating them!

Only registered members are allowed to rate. Members need to sign in to start rating and can only vote once per text message. The text message with the highest rating will appear on the front page for everyone to see. A text message can also appear in a prominent area in the category page it belongs, if it has the highest rating in its category.

So start rating for your favorite text mesages now! It’s a good way of telling others what text messages you think they shouldn’t miss!

Some might be wondering how text messages on TxtBuff are published. During the first three months, I was only getting a few messages from the contributors and sometimes, I don’t even get any. So it was still easy to publish a text message right after receiving it. But after a few more months, the number of contributions has increased, so much, that I already find it hard to publish all of them at the same time. Sometimes, two or more senders send the same text message. Some senders send the same text message twice. Some even send advertisements. So I already felt the need to arrange and organize by eliminating duplicates, deleting advertisements and putting them into folders.

Currently, I have 8 folders on my phone, specially dedicated for TxtBuff text messages. Each folder has a purpose and will be revealed one by one as you read along.

Let us say I received 22 text messages on my phone today. I will put the first 8 messages into the For Review folder and the remaining 14 on the To Follow folder.

Received 22 text messages today:
To Follow – 14 text messages for review tomorrow
For Review – 8 text messages for review today

Text messages on the For Review folder will be checked against existing text messages on TxtBuff website to avoid duplicates. After checking, these 8 reviewed text messages will be transferred to a new folder named To Post Jan 27. Text messages on this folder will be published on Jan 27 and will be deleted afterwards.

To Post Jan 27 – 8 reviewed text messages
To Follow – 14 text messages
For Review – no text messages for review

The following day, I received another 25. I will transfer these text messages to the To Follow folder. Combining text messages from yesterday and today will give us a total of 39 To Follow text messages. From these 39, I only need to get the oldest 8 messages to be transferred to the For Review folder.

Received 25 text messages today:
To Follow – 31 text messages (14 from yesterday and 25 today, minus 8 for review)
For Review – 8 text messages for review

Again, text messages on the For Review folder will be checked against existing text messages on TxtBuff. After checking, these 8 reviewed text messages will be transferred to a new folder named To Post Jan 28. Text messages on this folder will be published on Jan 28 and will be deleted afterwards.

To Follow – 31 text messages
For Review – no text messages for review
To Post Jan 28 – 8 reviewed text messages

The process then goes on and on. As I do this everyday, you will notice that text messages in the To Follow folder keep piling up. This means it will be harder for me to scroll down to the bottom to get older text messages since, they are arranged in reverse chronological order. To avoid this, I keep up to 350 messages at most (per folder), then store upcoming text messages on a new folder, To Follow 2.

To Follow2 – 12 text messages (this where I put new text messages)
To Follow1 – 342 text messages (this is where I get messages for review)
For Review – no text messages for review
To Post Jan 29 – 8 reviewed text messages

Sometimes I review text messages in advance, if I have time. Right now, I have 8 folders on my phone as I mentioned earlier, and these are:

To Follow4 – 191 text messages (I put all new text messages here)
To Follow3 – 350 text messages
To Follow2 – 350 text messages
To Follow1 – 328 text messages (this is where I get messages for review)
For Review – no text messages for review
To Post Feb 1 – 8 reviewed text messages
To Post Feb 2 – 8 reviewed text messages
To Post Feb 3 – 8 reviewed text messages

Finally, TxtBuff SMS plugin is now available for download. It allows you to display the latest SMS quotes and text messages from TxtBuff on your website. You can choose to display only from a specific author, a category, or just the latest text messages in general. You can style them with CSS too!

Download the official TxtBuff SMS v1.0 from WordPress plugins.

Instructions:

1. Extract all files from the ZIP file and then upload the whole folder to ‘/wp-content/plugins/’
2. Activate TxtBuff SMS plugin by going to the admin area of your WordPress blog and click on the “Plugins” menu. Click on “Activate” for the “TxtBuff SMS” plugin.
3. Visit the plugin’s options page (located at Options > TxtBuff) to set your preferences.
   1. Select SMS Quote Source. Choose from the following options: latest quotes in general, from a specific author, or from a specific category
   2. Number of quotes. Specify the number of text messages to appear in the plugin
   3. Maximum characters to display. Long text messages will be chopped off at the number you specify.
   4. Appearance. Customize font size, colors, etc by editing the CSS code.
4. If your theme is widget compatible, visit Presentation > Widgets and drag “TxtBuff SMS” widget to where you’d like it to display. If your theme is not widget compatible, edit your theme’s sidebar (see the WP Codex for help) and add <?php txtbuff(); ?> where you would like the output to be displayed.
